JACKSONVILLE, Fla., July 25, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ParkerVision, Inc. (Nasdaq:PRKR), a developer and marketer of semiconductor technology solutions for wireless applications, announced today it ranked 25th among The Patent Board's top 50 list of telecom and communications industry companies, based on the strength of its intellectual property portfolio.
The Patent Scorecard is a quarterly assessment of patent activity and is primarily ranked by a combined measure of the quality and quantity of a company's patent portfolio. The Patent Board has developed more than 50 indicators that track global patent activity relating to companies' innovation, technology, and science strengths.
Among 141 companies in the Telecom & Communications Scorecard, ParkerVision had the top Industry Impact(TM) score and top Research Intensity(TM) score in the top 50. Industry Impact measures the impact of a company's patents on technology developed by the rest of industry, while Research Intensity measures the degree to which a company's technologies are building on core science. In addition, ParkerVision led all firms by a wide margin in the criteria of Science Strength(TM), which is the measure of how much a company uses core science in building its patent portfolio.
